Abstract: While both women and men can be involved in coaching sports, the profession is male-dominated. This indicates that there are constraints to women sports coaching. This study sought to investigate factors influencing women's participation in coaching individual and team sports in Nairobi City County, Kenya. Descriptive survey research design was employed targeting women and men involved in individual and team sports. Stratified random sampling was employed to select a sample of 164 respondents (153 participated). Coaches and heads of organisations were selected through purposive sampling. Factors influencing women's involvement in coaching individual and team sports include family constraints, attitudes, perceptions and resources. In conclusion, fewer women than men coached individual and team sports in Nairobi City County, influenced by gender-related factors and challenges that, if addressed, could mitigate the situation. Further investigations should be conducted to establish how many women athletes' transit to coaching and to address the lack of awareness on women coach supporting initiatives.
