Abstract: The concept of 'green human resource management' (GHRM) gives organisations human resource practices that are favourable to the environment. GHRM are effective options for achieving the organisation's environmental objectives. The GHRM practices can be implemented in the manufacturing sectors, although there are major barriers. The purpose of this article is to identify the barriers using a literature review and, with the help of industry professionals, further analysis of the relationships between the identified barriers. This article focuses on identifying the barriers to the implementation of GHRM practices in the manufacturing sectors. A cause-and-effect relationship diagram was created using a fuzzy DEMATEL technique. Ten barriers were grouped into cause-and-effect groups, and the relationships between the barriers were also examined. Seven of these variables belong to the effect group, while the other three belong to the cause group. Lack of environmental knowledge and a lack of government support and direction are the two most important factors.

Keywords: green human resource management; GHRM; fuzzy DEMATEL; manufacturing sectors; environmental knowledge; government support and direction.
