Abstract: This study investigates the influence of market turbulence, technological turbulence, competitive intensity, data-driven culture, and resource accessibility on the use of business intelligence and analytics technology in startup companies in Indonesia. The study was conducted through a survey and received 44 responses from startup companies. The results show that technological turbulence and a data-driven culture are driving factors in the use of business intelligence and analytics technology as a strategic tool for startup companies. These empirical findings enrich the study of the driving factors for business intelligence and analytics technology usage in addition to the TOE framework, i.e., based on the strategic management framework, which takes perspective from the external and internal environment. This study concludes two managerial implications, emphasising the importance of a data-driven culture and the need to carefully monitor technological turbulence in an effort to encourage business intelligence and analytics technology usage as a strategic tool for startups.
