Abstract: The present paper is concerned with the analysis of free transverse vibration of moderately thick annular sandwich sector plates of uniform thickness consisting of isotropic facings and core based on first-order shear deformation theory. The radial edges of the plate are taken as simply-supported (S) while the other two edges are considered to be under three combinations of clamped (C), and free (F) boundary conditions. The effects of transverse shear and rotatory inertia are included in the governing equations which are derived from Hamilton's principle. The differential quadrature method is used to discretise these equations and compute the lowest three eigenvalues of frequency parameter reported as the first three modes of vibration. The influence of boundary conditions, core thickness, facing thickness, inner-to-outer radii ratio, and sector angle on the frequency parameter of the plate is presented. Convergence of the results is also presented. Results are compared in special cases. Three-dimensional mode shapes for the first three modes are plotted.
