Abstract: The reasonable design of suspension parameters can significantly determine vehicle's dynamic performance. In this paper, according to the actual working condition of liquid-garbage vehicle, the vehicle dynamics models with different working modes are established. Simultaneously, the dynamic simulation test of leaf spring is conducted. Therefore, the stiffness of leaf spring is identified. Furthermore, the multi-island genetic optimisation method is proposed through the Matlab-Isight combined simulation model. Based on the designed constraints of kinetics parameters, the proposed optimisation method is applied to the vehicle dynamic model, leading to the reasonable design of suspension parameters. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed optimisation method, the performance comparisons of the original and optimised suspension system under different working conditions are performed. The results demonstrate that the optimised suspension parameters can reduce the vertical acceleration, suspension dynamic deflection and tyre dynamic force to significantly improve the vehicle ride comfort and stability.
