The benefit of collaboration is that the corporates have organisational capabilities such as financial power and technical resources but lack core competency in social work, whereas NGOs are flexible in operation, accessible to beneficiaries, have experience/trained social workers which makes the NGOs effective in implementing social development programs (McKinsey, 2009; Poret, 2014; Save the Children, 2016). In the above perspective, the researcher tried to understand the collaborative work between Vadodara-based corporates and NGOs. The study was both qualitative and quantitative in nature and participants of the case study were selected using purposive sampling technique. Major findings are: 1) corporates generally collaborate with NGOs to implement CSR programs; 2) corporates evaluate and select NGOs every year to implement their CSR programs; 3) fund raising is the major challenge for the NGOs.
