Abstract: This research aims to evaluate the impact of XBRL, concentrating on the adoption of XBRL in emerging markets. We studied the challenges encountered when adopting XBRL, the effect after adopting XBRL, and the benefits gained after adopting XBRL in emerging markets. We did a systematic literature review of past papers and the perspectives of professionals. We used secondary data and existing literature for this study. The study concludes that XBRL could benefit stakeholders across the supply chain, and several alternatives were proposed to address the challenges. While the effects mainly give the stakeholders positive impacts that co-contribute to the benefits of using XBRL, further understanding regarding XBRL was also included to enhance the knowledge and awareness of the technology.
