Abstract: This paper mainly studies the effects of heat treatment (HT) and ultrasonic surface rolling process (USRP) on the tensile property and fatigue crack growth resistance of SLM Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The results show that heat treatment improves the elongation of the material from 3.8% to 16.5%, but the yield strength reduces from 1280 MPa to 1120 MPa. The USRP treatment increases the yield strength of the sample to 1590MPa but reduces the already poor ductility to 2.55%. This work proves that the tensile properties, the fatigue crack growth resistance, and the fatigue life of SLM Ti-6Al-4V alloy can be significantly improved or even exceed the corresponding level of wrought Ti-6Al-4V alloy by combining HT and USRP with appropriate process parameters.
