Abstract: The article deals with the effect of cargo on the magnitude of shocks generated by the Tatra 815 MK IV container carrier with respect to cargo securing. Due to the frequent use of only a part of the capacity of the ISO 1C container, a different effect on the magnitude of the shocks generated, and hence, on the choice of a cargo securing system is assumed. Two datasets of acceleration coefficients have been obtained from a transport experiment carried out with an empty vehicle and a 50% laden vehicle at a comparable average speed. For the measuring of primary data, OMEGA-CP-ULTRASHOCK-5 three-axis accelerometer was employed. The data were statistically processed, the probability of excess of the normatively determined limits as per ČSN EN 12195-1: 2011 was determined, and respective securing forces required for adequate cargo securing were calculated. The vehicle laden at 50% of its capacity generated, on average, smaller shocks than the unladen vehicle.
