Abstract: Manufacturing industries have a large base in India and produce a range of products. Presently indigenous industry is dealing with good competition due to emerging foreign manufacturing giants in the country. At this stage core functional competencies play a major role in the performance of an organisation and provide competitiveness in the market. This paper has a main focus on survey and quantitative data analysis of the Indian manufacturing industry based in the northern region. Data was collected using a questionnaire survey and then analysis was done using different tests. Main demographic factors considered were turnover of the organisation, number of employees working and market share of the company. Using chi squared test an analysis of variance significance levels have been drawn out. Similarly quantitative tools like correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis have been used and the factors which have a higher effect on the performance of organisations have been identified.
