Abstract: The development of e-democracy is the driving force behind the implementation of modern information technologies in electoral processes in many countries around the world. The most advanced technology in this field is the internet voting, which allows using remote access for elections. However, the experience of using such systems shows that there are many threats, which can nullify the benefits of internet voting. This study examines the application features of the information and telecommunication technologies in the electoral processes in the developed countries as well as in Ukraine. The research has made it possible to identify the benefits of the e-voting technologies, investigate the problems accompanying the introduction of the e-voting systems and suggest some ways of their development in Ukraine. The study concludes that despite the existing threats, the advantages of these systems go significantly beyond their disadvantages, and Ukraine has all prerequisites for the electronic voting implementation.
