Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to contribute to the existing knowledge on motivation theory with an application to Saudi Arabia's higher education. This research is an attempt to find the best theories that can help student performances. The implications of this research is of extreme importance, as it sheds light on one of the most important aspects of a student's success; learning how to motivate them will profoundly benefit not only the student but the kingdom as well. This research tests the extent to which the equity and Maslow's theory of motivation can be used in motivating students in Saudi Arabia. The findings of the study show a direct correlation between students' performance and the extent to which such theories were implemented. Moreover, it emphasises the underlying reasons why such theories are more beneficial than others as well as how Adam's equity theory is not only about analysing inputs/outputs and comparing it with others. And so is Maslow's theory of motivation, they are not simply approaches to motivation, but also powerful tools.
