Abstract: This paper examines the impact of automotive engineering changes (ECs) on the new product development (NPD) performance in the emerging market of India. For the purpose of measurement, an integrated framework is developed and applied. The framework consists of four constructs - significance of ECs, ECs involvement with NPD, ECs influence on material planning and logistics (MP&L) deliverables in NPD and overall NPD project performance. The study involved a total of 249 automotive engineers and managers from original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and suppliers of the automobile market. Research outcome presents that the impact of ECs in overall NPD project performance. The paper also presents the scope, limitations, and conclusions of the study as well as the implications for future research.
