Abstract: The present study investigated the impact of IT governance on the performance of project-based organisations by employing the COBIT framework and ISO 38500, and examines the relationship between IT governance principles and BSC dimensions on project-based organisations' performance. In order to test the hypotheses, the researchers have used the structural equation technique based on partial least squares with the help of PLS software. It has been revealed that all IT governance dimensions have a positive correlation with project-based organisations' performance and it has significant and positive impact on these organisations' performance. Information technology systems can cause the achievement of organisations to the desired status and the proper use of it can result employee satisfaction, increased profitability and effective use of time, and generally increase job satisfaction and organisational efficiency. This study enlightens managers of the project-based organisations that the role of IT in these organizations can be very high.
