Abstract: Operational efficiency of the hospitals should be taken care of. Purpose of research is to manage queues in hospital through simulation. For simulation, data is collected from real or original system. Arrival times of patients and service time of the server is collected from hospital. Data is identified with a particular distribution and then new data is generated using random variate generator of that distribution. Simulation is conducted and output is analysed. If one server is overloaded, then suggestion to add another server is given. The hospital keeps a benchmark that waiting time should not be more than two minutes. Waiting time in queue is calculated with two servers. Then t-test is applied to check the benchmark. The objectives of the research are: 1) to analyse the existing queuing system using discrete event simulation; 2) to suggest the changes in the system; 3) to analyse the performance of the system after change. This research aims to contribute to the body of knowledge. Issues in hospital are resolved through simulation and modifications in queuing are done.
Keywords: queuing system; discrete event simulation; replications in simulation.
