Abstract: Improving production efficiency is essential for ensuring industrial profitability and sustainability. This study analyses the impact of Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools on production efficiency through a systematic literature review. The PIOC framework and PRISMA 2020 guidelines were applied to identify and select relevant studies from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, resulting in 43 papers for analysis. The findings indicate that production time (34.88%), lead time (23.26%), and cycle time (18.60%) are the most influential factors affecting production efficiency. Among the LM tools, value stream mapping (62.79%), 5S (53.49%), and Ishikawa (30.23%) were the most frequently implemented and demonstrated strong potential for identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities. The review also highlights that integrating LM with Industry 4.0 technologies enhances data-driven decision-making and operational performance. However, implementation success depends on balancing the expected efficiency gains against investment costs, technological integration, and organisational capabilities.
