Abstract: This study aims to provide an optimal solution for allocating breeder eggs and broiler chicks, focusing on minimising transportation costs. The study addresses a relevant gap in the literature, as few studies examine the transportation of eggs and chicks using linear programming (LP). A case-based quantitative modelling approach was adopted. Based on real data from 36 production units of a multinational poultry company operating in Brazil, a consistent linear programming model was developed. The model enables the simulation of different scenarios for logistics cost minimisation. The results indicate a 4% reduction in transportation costs, which translates to annual savings of R$711,844. Sensitivity analysis identified areas for improvement, and informed prioritisation of cost reduction strategies and potential renegotiations with suppliers. Given the limited use of LP in poultry farming, the proposed approach contributes to academic research and the operational efficiency of the company under study.
