Abstract: The industrial internet of things (IIoT) pertains to a network of interconnected devices exchange data autonomously. A notable application is the smart shopping cart, designed to enhance customer convenience and retail efficiency. This proposal introduces a cost-effective, scalable system integrating contactless payment, mobile wallet support, real-time inventory tracking, and automated assistance to create a seamless shopping experience - especially valuable during pandemics. The smart cart, equipped with a barcode scanner, follows a predefined path while allowing shoppers to view catalogues, add products, and make payments via a mobile app, eliminating checkout queues. Advanced security features include an automated lid that opens only after scanning, a secured weighing unit that detects discrepancies, and a camera module that verifies product authenticity. This system ensures accurate billing, minimises human intervention, and enhances both customer satisfaction and retailer profitability through digitalisation, automation, and improved supply chain efficiency.
