Abstract: In this research work, Stir casting was used to manufacture metal matrix composites (MMCs) with reinforcements of (150 µm) fly ash particulates and (Al7075) aluminium alloy as a matrix. Dry sliding wear testing was carried out with a pin-on-disc wear test apparatus. During the microstructure shows a uniform dispersion of particles. Adding fly ash increased tensile strength and hardness. A high-temperature pin-on-disc tribometer was used to study dry sliding wear. The impact of process factors on coefficient of friction and sliding wear behaviour were investigated using a L9 orthogonal array and an ANOVA. Coefficient of friction and wear rate were compared to normal load, sliding distance and sliding speed. The results showed straight proportionality with normal load (20-60 N) sliding speed (400-600 rpm) and inverse proportionality with percentage reinforcement (2.5-7.5%). The microstructure and worn surfaces were analysis using scanning electron microscopy.
