Abstract: This study examines the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing sustainability across multiple sectors, including healthcare, finance, agriculture, smart cities, and manufacturing. By enhancing efficiency, reducing resource consumption, and minimising environmental impact, AI has emerged as a key enabler of sustainable development, though it also presents certain risks. Using data retrieved from the SCOPUS database through a title-abstract-keyword search, the study applies bibliometric analysis with R Studio and VOSviewer to identify leading authors, institutions, countries, and thematic trends in AI and sustainability research. The findings show that while AI is not a new concept, its application to sustainability has gained significant momentum in recent years. Prominent contributions come from a small group of influential authors and institutions, with the USA, the UK, India, China, and Germany leading globally. The study offers valuable theoretical insights and practical guidance, highlighting core, emerging, niche, and declining research themes and providing a foundation for future academic and managerial exploration in sustainable AI.
