Abstract: The existing imprecise decision data usually come from other literatures, simulations or assumptions, which lack objectivity and intelligence. Therefore, based on social media data, we apply machine learning and other methods to the objective intelligence acquisition of spherical fuzzy numbers, and propose a decision method based on information entropy, VIKOR method and spherical fuzzy number, and apply it to typhoon disaster assessment. First, we use Python crawler technology to crawl the social media data and obtain quantified spherical fuzzy numbers after the application of sentiment analysis. Second, a new spherical fuzzy number information entropy is defined to objectively determine the index weight. The degree of damage to the evaluated objects is ranked using the VIKOR method. Finally, the practicability, effectiveness, and feasibility of our method are verified using a typhoon disaster assessment example, and the advantages of this method are emphasised through a multifaceted comparative analysis with other methods.
