Abstract: In the field of natural computing, be it human-based, bio-emerged, swarm-based or non-living-based, the level of imitation of computational intelligence from nature is rising day by day. Researchers are incorporating the natural intelligence into various algorithms and systems for solving different complex problems. These algorithms and systems being a part of natural computing fits into any of the above categories. One such natural computing-based algorithm is intelligent water drops algorithm. The objective of this paper is to annotate upon the categorisation of intelligent water drops algorithm. The paper gives the detailed comparison of intelligent water drops algorithm with different algorithms under swarm-based category and tries to identify its place among different categories under natural computing, based on its suitability.

Keywords: bio-inspired computation; fluid dynamics; intelligent water drops algorithm; natural computing; non-living-based computing; swarm intelligence; computational intelligence.
