Abstract: In light of rising energy costs and increasing global energy demand as well as technological change, energy efficiency is developed as an important objective for the industry. The growing ecological awareness and the development of political regulations have increased the necessity to meet these challenges. Therefore, industrial companies have realised that these developments increasingly influence their competitiveness. Expanding the competence base of the employees is one of the crucial factors of success. Thus, a concept for a learning environment on energy efficiency, the 'Centre of energy competence - logistics and factory planning-, was developed. The entire concept and the steps towards its implementation are presented in this article. Planners and operators of a factory get the opportunity to act adequately and successfully in the energy-efficient factory.
