Title: A case study: the Green School Project in Flanders

Abstract: This paper describes the Green School Project initiated by the Flemish Minister of Environment and developed by a team of researchers at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. The aim of the project is to stimulate the introduction of environmental management at secondary schools. The principal objective is to raise secondary school pupil|s awareness of environmental problems through practical and immediately applicable changes in the school|s own environment. The introduction and maintenance of an environmental management system leads to the award of a |Green School| label.
