Abstract: It is sometimes very important to prevent the introduction of carrier gas into metal bath when blowing in the powdered materials. The new devices and injection lances are needed for this case and the best is the non-submerged lance. The experiments were conducted accordingly to a precisely prepared experimental plan. The main method was model experiments with use of laboratory stand with computer-connected device for diphase stream force measurement. The new injection lance and a method of its use was invented and analysed. The construction of the lance with a flange makes possible even total elimination of carrier gas introduction into liquid bath with proper particles stream range obtained. This paper shows the results of the test experiments of the lances with various geometrical parameters. Further experiments are planned with use of various types of powdered materials to understand the limits of changing the process parameters. [Received 30 March 2006; Accepted 8 March 2007]
