Abstract: This paper presents a software package for the design of high performance active filters considering an extended set of requirements. The design starts with the derivation of the transfer function, optimized in respect to behavioural and implementation criteria. It follows with filter synthesis, based on the cascade of first- and second-order sections topology. The software generates the circuit-level netlist of the filter according to the derived transfer function and the designer choices such as the type of sections and the modelling of the active devices implementing them. The emphasis is on using orthogonal structures, that allow independent control over their main parameters; two novel OpAmp-RC structures are proposed for implementing biquads with imaginary or complex zeros. The software enables the designer to run PSpice sims within its framework. There are provisions for multiple iterations, for fine tuning and optimization.
