Abstract: In the paper the impact of known and new signal modelling techniques on image zero order entropy is done. One of methods is image rotation/reflection previously applied in fractal image compression. The pre-processing results are provided for 45 greyscale images of different size. It is shown that optimisation of image modelling of even efficient methods as JPEG-LS or CALIC can be further improved by approximately 5 percent on the average.
