Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of important government incentives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Norwegian oil and gas sector. Two case studies will be used to illustrate an optimised route towards these schemes in Norway. The impact of different incentives was investigated through case studies in the Norwegian oil and gas sector. The management and founders of each company was interviewed to identify the most important factors that influence and assist companies in their efforts towards increased R&D and innovation. Case studies are based on face-to-face interviews of the relevant companies. This paper identifies the relevance of Norwegian Government incentives. Findings are discussed, and concluding remarks are presented. The research highlights the most important incentives and explains why these incentives are relevant for the different companies.
