IJ Nanotechnology increases issues for 2008

International Journal of Nanotechnology has announced an increase in issues to 12 in 2008. This highly successful journal, included in Science Citation Index and elsewhere, will continue its coverage of nanotechnology in various countries by including within these issues papers about nanotechnology in Australia, France and Canada. Previous issues have covered Spain, Ukraine, Korea, China, Singapore, Australia and Brazil.

New volume in Globalisation, Technology and Sustainable Development book series

The second volume of a series of books devoted to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has just been published. Business Excellence and Competitiveness in the Middle East and North Africa outlines key factors that are influencing and are influenced by the business environment in the MENA region and that are essential for achieving business excellence and competitiveness in the region. In doing so, a holistic approach is used to analyse and assess the performance of the different countries in the region against each other and the rest of the world using different international indicators and measurements. IJ Environment and Waste Management doubles in size from 2009

Another new Inderscience publication, International Journal of Environment and Waste Management, has just completed its first volume but is already preparing to expand. Its Editor, Professor Yung-Tse Hung from Cleveland State University, has announced that, starting from 2009, it will double in size from 4 to 8 issues.

IJ Bioinformatics Research and Applications increases issues for 2009

The highly successful journal, International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications, has announced an increase in issues from 4 to 6 in 2009. The journal is included in Science Citation Index and other notable indexing and abstracting services.

IJ Risk Assessment & Management and IJ Emergency Management among co-sponsors of National Emergency Management Summit

The International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management and International Journal of Emergency Management are among the co-sponsors of the Second National Emergency Management Summit, the leading forum on medical preparedness and response to disasters, epidemics and terrorism. IJ Opportunity, Growth and Value Creation calls for inaugural issue papers

The International Journal of Opportunity, Growth and Value Creation is preparing its inaugural issue. All researchers interested in submitting papers for publication in the area of Opportunity, including, but not limited to issues related to the identification, recognition, creation, selection and exploitation of opportunities are requested to submit papers to the Editors-in-Chief, Dr. Terrence E. New book in Globalisation, Technology and Sustainable Development series

Science,Technology and Sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa is the latest book to be published in the Globalisation, Technology and Sustainable Development book series, edited by Dr. Allam Ahmed from SPRU - Science & Technology Policy Research at The Freeman Centre, University of Sussex. The main objective of this book is to critically examine the complex relationship between science, technology and the environment. In doing so, a holistic approach is used to provide an in-depth analysis and state-of-the-art overview of the efforts made by the different countries in the MENA region to tackle these challenges of sustainability and SD.

Journal title change to IJ Sustainable Manufacturing

Professor I. S. Jawahir, the James F. Hardymon Chair in Manufacturing Systems at the University of Kentucky and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Product Design and Manufacture for Sustainability has instituted a name change for this journal to the International Journal of Sustainable Manufacturing. The journal is due for publication at the end of this year or early in 2008.

IJ Medical Engineering and Informatics calls for papers

The International Journal of Medical Engineering and Informatics will publish its inaugural issue in the middle of the 2008. All researchers interested in submitting papers for publication in the areas of medical engineering and informatics are requested to submit papers to the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dinesh P. Mital. The deadline for submission of the inaugural issue is December 31, 2007.

New Editors for IJ Autonomic Computing and IJ Grid and Utility Computing

Prof.Václav Snášel, from FEI VSB-TU Ostrava in the Czech Republic, and Dr. Ajith Abraham, from Chung-Ang University in Korea, have agreed to cooperate in reviving the development of both the International Journal of Autonomic Computing and International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing. Prof. Václav Snášel is Vice-Dean for Research and Science in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, while Dr. Abraham works in the Electronic Commerce Lab at Chung-Ang, part of the School of Computer Science and Engineering.

IJ Machining and Machinability of Materials increases issues again

An announcement last year of an increase in 2008 issues of the International Journal of Machining and Machinability of Materials to six has now been superceded by a further announcement that it will now increase its issues to eight for 2008..

Calls for Papers for IJ Adaptive Infrastructures, IJ Mining and Mineral Engineering, IJ Petroleum Engineering

Three new titles, IJ Adaptive Infrastructures, IJ Mining and Mineral Engineering and IJ Petroleum Engineering, under the editorship of Dr. Chefi Ketata from Dalhousie University, Canada, are issuing calls for papers for their first volumes. The deadlines for submissions are

  • Paper due: 1 September, 2007
  • Acceptance notification: 1 October, 2007
  • Final paper version due: 1 November, 2007

IJ Risk Assessment and Management increases issues again

Having previously decided to increase the number of its issues for next year to 8, the International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management has now decided that the number of papers and special issues being submitted to it warrants moving instead to 12 issues for 2008.

I J Modelling, Identification and Control moves to 12 issues p.a.

Such has been the success of the International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control that its previously announced increase to 8 issues from 2008 has now had to be increased again: from 2008, the journal will publish 12 issues per year.

    I J Public Services Economics and Management changes title, widens scope

    The International Journal of Public Services Economics and Management has now changed its title to International Journal of Services Economics and Management to reflect a wider scope of coverage. The journal will be published in early 2008.

    Title change to I J Collaborative Enterprise + new editor

    The title formerly known as the International Journal of Intelligent Collaborative Enterprise has a new name - International Journal of Collaborative Enterprise - and a new editor - Professor Ali K. Kamrani, from the University of Houston Industrial Engineering Department. Professor Kamrani, already a Guest Editor for several Inderscience special issues, is re-developing the journal and will announce the new Editorial Board in due course.

    IJ Microstructure and Materials Properties moves to 6 issues for 2008

    The International Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties becomes the latest Inderscience title to announce an increase in the number of issues it will publish, going from four to six issues per annum and starting in 2008.

    New editor for IJ Adaptive Infrastructures

    Inderscience is pleased to announce that Dr. Chefi Ketata from Dalhousie University's Department of Civil Engineering in Canada has agreed to undertake the development of the International Journal of Adaptive Infrastructures. Dr. Ketata has been involved in successfully guest-editing several special issues for Inderscience. We welcome his involvement in this venture and look forward to the journal's publication later this year or early next.

    ... and IJ Vehicle Systems Modelling and Testing also announces issue increases for 2008

    Following hard on the heels of the announcement from one of Inderscience's oldest titles, International Journal of Environment and Pollution, one of its newer titles, the International Journal of Vehicle Systems Modelling and Testing, has also indicated that it will increase the number of its issues from 2008; this will be from four to six issues per year.

    IJ Environment and Pollution goes to 16 issues in 2008

    One of Inderscience's long-standing titles, International Journal of Environment and Pollution, has announced that it is intending to increase the number of its issues from 2008 from twelve to sixteen. It thus becomes the most prolific Inderscience title, along with another well-established title, International Journal of Technology Management, which also produces sixteen issues per year.

    IJ Product Development moves for 2008

    The International Journal of Product Development becomes the latest Inderscience title to announce an increase in the number of issues it will publish, going from six to eight per annum and starting in 2008.

    Inderscience at UKSG

    Inderscience would like to send their best wishes to all those who visited our stand at the recent UK Serials Group (UKSG) annual conference and exhibition at the University of Warwick, attended by over 500 delegates. We had visitors from many UK and European university libraries - too many to acknowledge individually here - together with those from national libraries and government libraries. We talked to representatives of the European Parliament, the House of Commons Library and the Scottish Executive, for instance, and also the Danish National Library Authority and the Norwegian Archive, Library and Museum Authority. Delegates from further afield included those from the USA, Kenya, Malawi and Egypt. Thanks also to those more than 100 delegates who listened to our product review. Appreciation is certainly due to Alison Whitehorn and Karen Sadler, who organized not only the conference and exhibition but also the entertaining dinner in the magnificent setting of Stoneleigh Abbey.     Four more journals announce 2008 issue increases

    The Editor-in-Chief of four Inderscience journals, Professor Angappa Gunasekaran, has announced his intention to increase the number of issues from 2008. The following journals will be published in six rather than four issues from that date:

    IJ Services Sciences editor appointed to Professional Risk Managers' International Association committee

    Professor Dash Wu, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Services Sciences, has been appointed to the Academic Advisory Committee of the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA). PRMIA is a fast-growing, collaborative network of risk professionals from around the globe, defining and implementing the best practices of risk management. The Committee aims to help facilitate a two-way flow of resources and
    information between practitioners and the academic community in the area of risk management.

    Distinguished Service Award for Prof. Binshan Lin

    In recognition of more than fifteen years of professional commitment, leadership, and service to the Decision Sciences Institute, Southwest Region, Professor Binshan Lin has been selected to receive the Distinguished Service Award in 2007. He has been a member of the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute (SWDSI) and the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) for over 18 years. Professor Lin edits eight Inderscience titles:

    New Nanoscience/Technology Society Endorses Inderscience titles

    The Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SNN) was launched at the International Meeting on Developments in Materials, Processes and Applications of Nanotechnology, MPA-2007 (www.mpa-2007.org) held at the University of Ulster, UK on 15 January 2007. The SNN provides a platform for fostering, developing and promoting communication, education, networking, dissemination of knowledge, research and innovations in all aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Its Honorary President is the Nobel Laureate, Professor Sir H. W Kroto, its President is Dr Nasar Ali and its Vice Presidents are Professor Sam Zhang, Professor Waqar Ahmed, and Professor Andreas Oechsner.

    The SNN officially endorses and supports the Inderscience titles, International Journal of Molecular Engineering, International Journal of Nanomanufacturing, International Journal of Nano and Biomaterials and International Journal of Nanoparticles. The Society's website, www.nano-society.org, is currently being developed.

    New Editor for IJ Forensic Software Engineering

    Dr. Pierluigi Ritrovato has undertaken the development of the International Journal of Forensic Software Engineering. Dr. Ritrovato is Assistant Professor in Information Engineering at DIIMA, University of Salerno and responsible for International Research Cooperation and Technology Innovations at CRMPA, the Research Centre in Pure and Applied Mathematics in Fisciano, Italy. The new details for the journal are given at www.inderscience.com/ijfse, and information on the Editorial Board will appear there shortly.

    IJ Surface Science and Engineering expands to 6 issues in 2008

    The inaugural issue of International Journal of Surface Science and Engineering is due to be published shortly. However, such is the strength of submissions already that the publishing schedule will see the number of issues rise from four this year to six in 2008, making it the seventh Inderscience title to announce an increase for next year.

    New Editor for IJ Electronic Democracy/IJ Electronic Trade

    The prolific Dr. Miltiadis Lytras of the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute and Computer Engineering and Informatics Department at the University of Patras in Greece is to develop the International Journal of Electronic Democracy and the International Journal of Electronic Trade for Inderscience. It is anticipated that the inaugural issue of the former will be published in 2007 and the latter in 2008.

    Inderscience at UK Serials Group 30th Annual Conference and Exhibition

    The UK Serials Group (UKSG) celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and will hold its Annual Conference and Exhibition at the University of Warwick from 16-18 April. Inderscience will be presenting its products in the Exhibition on Stands 8 and 9 in the Mead Gallery. It is the largest event of its kind in Europe and over 500 delegates including key library and information staff, publishers, internet service providers and intermediaries are expected to attend.     New Editor for IJ Agile & Extreme Software Development

    Professor Prof. Jorge Cardoso from the Universidade da Madeira has now undertaken the development of the International Journal of Agile and Extreme Software Development. Agile software development methods and solutions aim to propose a new style of developing software and have drawn significant attention in the software industry in recent years. Agile methodologies have shown scientific and practical evidence of increased productivity, better quality and increased customer satisfaction regarding software projects. The journal is part of the Computing Science, Applications and Software portfolio.
