Now IJ Exergy goes to 6 issues in 2008

The International Journal of Exergy becomes the latest (sixth) of Inderscience titles to increase its issues in 2006. This well-regarded title was accepted into Science Citation Index in 2006.

IJ Modelling, Identification and Control goes to 8 issues in 2008

One of Inderscience's new titles, the International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control, has already proved so popular with authors that it will publish eight issues instead of four from 2008. It thus becomes the fifth title already to announce an increase in issues for 2008.

Inderscience were delighted to be Gold sponsors of the Information Professionals' Christmas Party, held at the Science Museum in November. Some 500 people attended the prestigious event, hosted by six information groups, which proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Click here for photographs. New Title, Editor for Food Safety Management

The previously-titled International Journal of Food Safety Management now has a new editor and a new title. It will henceforth be known as the International Journal of Food Safety, Nutrition and Public Health and will be developed and edited by Dr. Allam Ahmed from SPRU - Science and Technology Policy Research at the University of Sussex in Brighton, UK. IJFSNPH reports, discusses and analyses the latest developments in food safety and its management, nutrition and public health. Dr. Allam already successfully edits both the World Review of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development and World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development.

Core Nanoscience/technology Collection Formed

Inderscience now has in place a significant core collection of five titles on nanoscience and nanotechnology. The established and prestigious International Journal of Nanotechnology is joined by the newly published International Journal of Nanomanufacturing, while the other three titles International Journal of Molecular Engineering, International Journal of Nano and Biomaterials and International Journal of Nanoparticles are being developed and will be published in 2007 or early 2008.

In addition to these core titles, other Inderscience journals such as International Journal of Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems and International Journal of Surface Science and Engineering will deal with topic within their spheres of coverage. The whole collection will offer a comprehensive and important view of this challenging and fast-developing area of research and application

I J Machining and Machinability of Materials moves to 6 issues in 2008

The International Journal of Machining and Machinability of Materials becomes the fifth Inderscience title to announce already an increase in the number of its issues in 2008. It will move from four to six issues at the end of next year, following its successful launch earlier this year.

New Editor for IJ Public Sector Performance Management

Inderscience is delighted to announce that Professor Robert Fouchet, Dean of the Institute of Public Management at the Paul Cezanne University in Aix-en-Provence, France, is now setting up and developing the International Journal of Public Sector Performance Management. The journal will emphasise the implementation of performance management technologies; this perspective acknowledges the complexity of performance management in the public sector as an interface between the values placed upon public sector activities and their implementation.

IJRAM goes to 8 issues for 2007

Due to the popularity of the International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management (a sign of the times we live in?), the number of issues of this journal will increase to 8 in 2007, with further increases on the cards for 2008. IJRAM becomes the 11th title to announce an increase in issues for 2007, with a further three having already decided to expand in 2008.

New Editors for IJIOME
The International Journal of Information and Operations Management Education has new Co-Editors-in-Chief. They are Professor Bradley T. Ewing, Jerry S. Rawls Professor in Operations Management and Director of the Center for Professional Development/Management & Executive Education at the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University, and Professor Mark A. Thompson from the Institute for Economic Advancement at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. We are extremely grateful to the previous editor, Professor Angappa Gunasekaran, Director of the Business Innovation Research Center (BIRC) at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth, for his sterling efforts in setting up and developing the journal to its current status.
Inderscience Journal Manager to receive WASD award
Janet Marr, one of the Inderscience Journal Managers, is to be presented with a World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) Award for her outstanding contribution to the Fourth International Conference on Global and Local Resources in Achieving Sustainable Development, to be held from 6th-8th November 2006 at the University of Naples in Italy. Papers from the conference will be available on the website from 6 November.

IJESB joins IJOR and IJSNet in expanding for 2008
The International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business is following in the footsteps of IJOR and IJSNet (below) by increasing the number of its issues from 2008. Having gone from 4 to 6 issues this year, it finds that this will be insufficient to cope with the submission of quality papers it is receiving, and will go to 8 issues from 2008.
IJOR and IJSNet expand for 2008
Following the announcement of 10 titles which are increasing the number of their issues per year in 2007, two titles have decided to expand their issues in 2008; the International Journal of Operational Research will go from four to six issues and the International Journal of Sensor Networks from six to eight issues.
IJNT latest to go to 6 issues
Lionel Vayssieres, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Nanotechnology becomes the tenth editor to announce an increase in the number of issues for 2007. IJNT will publish six issues from next year.

Not only is Inderscience increasing the number of titles it publishes, it is also increasing the number of issues of some journals. From 2007, the following titles will be published in SIX issues rather than four:

Journal of Design Research published by Inderscience

Volume 5(1) of the Journal of Design Research is the first issue to be published by Inderscience following the agreement with the TU Delft to take responsibility for the journal. Previously-published issues have also been transferred to the journal's home page.

IJNVO, IJEntTM have new editors

Dr. Nilmini Wickramasinghe, (http://www.stuart.iit.edu/cmmt/CMMTAcaPerNilCV.htm), Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Centre for the Management of Medical Technology (CMMT) in the Stuart Graduate School of Business at Illinois Institute of Technology has taken over as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Networking and Virtual Organisations.

Meanwhile, the International Journal of Entertainment Technology and Management has recruited three editors to develop it. Dr. Miltiadis Lytras, from the University of Patras Research Academic Computer Technology Institute and Computer Engineering and Informatics Department in Greece, is already Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Knowledge and Learning and Collaborating Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Learning and Change. He is joined by Don Marinelli, Professor of Drama and Arts Management and Co-Director of the Carnegie Mellon University Entertainment Technology Center and Dr. Hugo Liu from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Laboratory.

Royal Academy of Engineering 2006 Hinton lecture to be given by Inderscience Editor
The Royal Academy of Engineering's 2006 Hinton Lecture is to be given by Professor Calestous Juma, FRS, on the subject of The Role of the Engineering Sciences in International Development: Redesigning African Economies. The lecture is to be held on 3 October 2006 at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Savoy Place, London WC2R 0BL, UK.

New Editors for 4 Inderscience Titles

As well as editing two of the newly-announced titles, (International Journal

), Dr Bruno Sergi from the University of Messina in Italy has also recently taken over responsibility for developing the existing title, International Journal of Trade and Global Markets.

Another hard-working Editor is Professor Lenny Koh from the University of Sheffield. Having just overseen publication of the inaugural issue of the International Journal of Enterprise Network Management, Professor Koh has also taken over responsibility for developing existing Inderscience titles, the International Journal of Logistics and Economic Globalisation and the International Journal of Value Chain Management.

Professor Waguih H. ElMaraghy from the University of Windsor in Canada will start work this autumn in developing the International Journal of Complexity.

10,000 Online Articles

A milestone has been reached with the addition of the 10,000th online article to the Inderscience electronic collection. The article, on the theoretical dimensions of industrial ecology (http://www.inderscience.com/search/index.php?action=recor d&rec_id=10054&prevQuery=&ps=10&m=or) from a Special Issue of Progress in Industrial Ecology, marks further evidence of the rapid growth in the Inderscience collection. All online Inderscience articles are freely searchable via this site, although full text is restricted to subscribers and pay-per-view.

Inderscience News Weblog

Inderscience now has a weblog (also known as a blog) to provide a wider range of news items than is possible on this site. It incorporates an RSS feed so if you use a newsreader like Bloglines you can keep up with new items as they are added to the blog.

The blog will contain items such as new titles that have been announced, new
issues of the Highlights newsletter, calls for papers, announcement of the inaugural issue of new journals, the contents list for special issues, significant articles, selective editorials, new editors that have been appointed, and so on.

Nuclear Collection Complete

The inaugural issue of the International Journal of Nuclear Hydrogen
Production and Applications
completes the eight-journal Inderscience Nuclear Collection, under the editorship of Professor Dr. André Maïsseu, from WONUC - the World Council of Nuclear Workers based in France. This unique collection addresses research and development issues in all aspects of nuclear science, technology, governance and law, making it one of the primary sources of information in the field.

Inderscience Editor elected Fellow of the Royal Society

announced by Professor Juma

Professor Calestous Juma, Editor of the International Journal of Biotechnology, Co-Editor of the International Journal of Technology and Gloablisation, and Associate Editor of International Journal of Technology Transfer and Commercialisation, announced on the 17 February the creation of the PJ Patterson Institute on Science, Technology and Innovation in honour of the retiring Prime Minister of Jamaica. The Institute will start working on the role of information and communications technologies in sustainable development.

The Institute will also be a centre for training senior officers in government, business and civil society. In addition, it will be a platform for policy leaders to discuss new ideas and to examine available options. It will hold a series of Distinguished Patterson lectures on Science, Technology and Innovation and will also award the Patterson Prize to an enterprise, individual, a business or country which demonstrates global leadership in using technology for development.

This international venture is the first institutional response to the recommendation of the UN Millennium Project's Task Force on Science, Technology and Innovation. More will follow in other regions.

Calestous Juma is Professor of the Practice of International Development and Director of the Science, Technology, and Globalization Project at Harvard University. He is a former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and Founding Director of the African Centre for Technology Studies in Nairobi, and he also served as Chancellor of the University of Guyana. He is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Art and Science and a member of the Kenya National Academy of Sciences. He has won several international awards for his work on sustainable development. He is National Associate of the U.S. National Academies and has served on its committees on science advice, geographical information sciences, and biotechnology.

Editor appointed for International Journal of Sustainable Design

Professor Aleksandar Subic, Head of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering
in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the
RMIT University in Australia, has been appointed to develop the International Journal of Sustainable Design. Professor Subic heads an active research programme in this area.

Title Change - International Journal of Information Policy and Law now International Journal of Technology Policy and Law

The title of the forthcoming journal, International Journal of Information Policy and Law, has been amended so that it is now International Journal of Technology Policy and Law. The journal, under the editorship of Professor Dr. Eldon Li, is currently setting up and will be published in 2007

Inderscience Editor chosen as Computer Educator of the Year 2005

Dr. Binshan Lin, the BellSouth Corporation Professor at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, has been chosen as the winner of the Computer Educator of the Year 2005 by the International Association of Computer Information Systems (IACIS www.iacis.org). The IACIS recognizes one outstanding educator annually as the Computer Educator of the year. The Computer Educator of the Year is the highest award given by the Association, and competition for the award is keen. Candidates must show exceptional research and teaching skills, have made significant contributions to Information Systems (IS ) and IS education, and enjoy a national or international reputation for their outstanding work throughout the IS community. Recent recipients have included curriculum innovators, leaders in the field of artificial intelligence and IS management, and publishers of learning materials that have significantly impacted the IS community.

Professor Lin is the Editor-in-Chief of eight Inderscience titles:
Electronic Government, an International Journal;
International Journal of Electronic Finance;
International Journal of Electronic Healthcare;
International Journal of Innovation and Learning;
International Journal of Management and Enterprise Development;
