Abstract: Due to the long time and low accuracy of traditional methods for detecting the wear degree of carbon fibre composite automobile brake pads, a new method for detecting the wear degree of carbon fibre composite automobile brake pads is proposed. Firstly, the wear image of carbon fibre composite automobile brake pad is collected, and the bilateral filter is used to denoise the collected wear image. Secondly, the geometric characteristics of brake pads are calculated. Finally, the square difference matching method is used to match the similarity between the image and the template image to detect the wear degree of carbon fibre composite automobile brake pad. The simulation results show that the proposed method has high accuracy, short detection time and the highest evaluation accuracy of 99%.
