Abstract: Recent interest in investigations of mechanical, elastic, electronic, optical and transport properties of the silicon carbide/silica (SiC/SiO2) core/shell nanowires (CSNWs) is due to the importance of their integration into several nanoscale devices used in all modern nanotechnological fields. In this context, the diameter effects, 51 nm ≤ Dwire ≤ 190 nm, of individual SiC/SiO2 coaxial CSNWs on their acoustic parameters have been investigated using a simulation program based on acoustic microscopy technique. Thus, we determined the effects of wire diameters on reflection coefficients, acoustic materials signatures, velocities, critical excitation angles as well as acoustic impedances of longitudinal, transverse and Rayleigh modes. Calculation and quantification of the results led to the determination of different relations describing the polynomial variation of acoustic parameters as a function of size. To enrich this investigation, a comparison with elastic parameters of both bulk pure SiO2 and SiC were also computed. The importance of the above deduced formulas lies in the direct determination of desired elastic properties of such nanomaterials by just knowing their diameters and vice versa.
