University-business collaboration: facilitating improvement through partnership

Abstract: This paper outlines a Teaching Company Scheme (TCS) Programme between the manufacturing sites of RHP Bearings Ltd and four universities, the theme of which is business improvement. The Programme is a unique endeavour to build active partnerships between the manufacturing sites of the company and academics. In the paper the benefits are reviewed and outcomes to the Associates, companies and academics examined. Guidance is also provided in setting up and managing this type of program.
