Abstract/Summary: Mass customization (MC) has gained a lot of attention either from the industries, or the researchers. This is caused by the more demanding customers who seek uniqueness, and by all the available supporting technologies such as the internet. Companies are interested in this strategy for it allows them to have a competitive advantage and increase their profit. But how to manage such a product throughout its entire life cycle knowing that every manufactured product is specifically customized for a specific customer? How to deal with the increased product complexity, and how to insure the needed collaboration between all value chain partners? In this article, we discuss the particularity of the PLM needed for MC.
