Abstract/Summary: Asset intensive organizations typically have large volumes of asset information which is usually of variable quality and may not be managed optimally. This paper will explore how user behaviours impact on the quality of asset information. The paper first provides examples of the types of asset information usually encountered. Second, examples of different user behaviours will be illustrated which have a direct impact on the quality of asset information. The long term impact of such changes will be explained along with the potential wider impacts to an organization. Finally, examples of good practices to managing asset information will be detailed to assist readers in understanding and reducing the likelihood and impact of user behaviours.
