Abstract: This study simulates the coping strategies taken by academics and professionals when they are situated within two contradicting institutional logics. By using the Prisoner's Dilemma as the study framework, the simulation sets scenarios and combinations of coping strategies to seek out which strategies result in more benefit. The results suggest that even though a defective strategy exists in the system, the cooperative pay-offs remain high. The author validates the results with an empirical study using two types of universities - private and public.
