Abstract: This paper is designed to examine the changes of energy consumption under different forward position change through heel height wearing during jogging. 14 healthy females took part in this study with flat shoe (1.2 cm), low-heeled shoe (4.5 cm) and high-heeled shoe (7 cm), respectively. Energy consumption data were collected by K4b2 portable gas analysis system during jogging. The results of this study showed that minute ventilation (VE), relative oxygen consumption (VO2) and energy cost (EE) significantly rose with the increase of heel height, and increased rapidly with high and low heels during the last minutes of jogging. Our research showed it easily causes neuromuscular fatigue when jogging with high heels, so people could slow down the speed.
