Abstract: In this study, irreversibility analysis of a two-evaporator vapour compression refrigeration system under the influence of superheating and subcooling effects was carried out. The thermodynamic properties of the refrigerants were formulated using the most commonly used software Engineering Equation Solver (EES-V9.172-3D) in the analysis of refrigeration systems. Environment friendly refrigerants R407C, R410A, R404A and R134a were taken into consideration and the analysis was based on the second law of thermodynamics. The effect of the evaporator and condenser temperature on the irreversibility of the system components, such as evaporator, compressor and condenser were investigated. In addition to this, the exergy efficiency values of the system components were computed in accordance with refrigerants in terms of a certain operating conditions. One of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is that irreversibility values of system components depend on evaporator and condenser temperature change.
