Abstract: Potassium ferrate was synthesized using ferric chloride, and its effects on the oxidation of arsenic(III) in water treatment were investigated. Under given coagulation conditions, the effects of several factors on arsenic oxidation efficiency were examined, which include the mole ratio of Fe(VI) and As(III) added in water and the time elapsed between the addition of potassium ferrate and the measurement of As(III) in treated water.

Keywords: arsenic oxidation; arsenic removal; potassium ferrate; water treatment.
