Abstract: Stress and fatigue analysis of vehicle structures, prediction of service life and improvement of design are becoming more important areas of research activity. Mathematical modelling is applied to these problems taking account of variables such as payload, road surface roughness, and speed. This paper describes a method of modelling the physical properties of bus axles and frames.

Keywords: axles; buses; bus frame structures; dynamics; mathematical modelling; payload; road surface; speed; structure dynamics; vehicle design.
