Abstract: The results of a numerical model able to reproduce the dynamic interaction of a train-track system are compared with measurements taken during tests performed in co-operation with the Italian Railway Authority. The numerical model makes it possible to evaluate the vibrational impact on the surroundings: the comparison between a traditional ballasted track and a track laid on a prestressed concrete superstructure is reported.
