Abstract: In this article, we present the numerical simulation model of the fracture splitting connecting rod by the FEM software MSC.Marc. In the technology of the fracture splitting, the fracture force which is the key to the process of the technology has been greatly influenced by the prefabricated starting notch of the con-rod. Therefore, the optimisation of the parameters of the prefabricated starting notch is very important in some way. We proposes to combine the critical stress intensity factor KIC and JIC to find out the rule of the prefabricated starting notch|s influence on the fracture force in the fracture splitting numerical simulation model. The former can be used to describe and calculate the geometrical factor of the prefabricated starting notch and the latter can be used to determine the fracture force of different models with diversified parameters of prefabricated starting notch correspondingly by referencing the numerical simulation results. Since the factors have relationships with the deepness of the prefabricated starting notch, the geometrical factor and the fracture force, the relation curve between the prefabricated starting notch|s parameters and the fracture force of the fracture splitting connecting rod can be established. And this can be used for the optimisation of the fracture splitting technology.
