Abstract: Quality assurance was once the domain of a small group of specialists who checked every product to ensure that it conformed to the given requirements. Today, there is an increasing awareness that economic quality assurance must be based on teamwork between all those involved in production, using the idea of a |total quality concept|. This requires a change in a company|s |culture| to one in which employees at all levels have some responsibility for quality.

Keywords: total quality concept; quality control; quality assurance; quality management; organisational culture; employee involvement.
