Abstract: The use of gasoline cars causes air pollution problems. Electric cars are an alternative to gasoline cars, thereby reducing environmental pollution. This research investigates the factors influencing switching intention from gasoline to electric cars. We used the push-pull-mooring (PPM) model to explain consumers' switching intentions. We surveyed 308 car-owning consumers in Vietnam in 2023. Our results show that, for the push factor, variables such as environmental concern and price consciousness positively impact switching intention. For the pull factor, perceived usefulness and personal innovativeness positively impact switching intention. In contrast, the incentive policy variable has no impact on switching intention. For the mooring factor, perceived risk and inertia negatively impact switching intention. Additionally, the control variables, age and income, also impact switching intention. The younger people are, and the higher their income, the more they intend to switch from gasoline to electric cars.
