Abstract: As the best solution to the currently raging environmental problems, the number of electric cars (ECs) and their users is increasing rapidly, yet they constitute a small share of the total Indian auto market. The present study aimed to analyse the effect of socio-demographic factors of Indian people on their willingness to accept ECs. The characteristics and geographic locations of the people of the Delhi-NCR region were charted, and 514 samples were obtained for final analysis through purposive and convenient sampling. Subsequently, the effect of their socio-demographic characteristics was analysed on their willingness to accept ECs. The findings revealed a significant effect of gender, education and annual household income, and an insignificant effect of age, occupation, and the number of cars in the household on people's willingness to accept ECs. The study's findings will benefit the prospective car consumer, policymakers, car manufacturers and marketers.
