Abstract: Modern states are searching for an optimal socio-economic policy model that ensures long-term economic growth and creates prerequisites for improving the well-being of the population. The purpose of the research is to analyse the socio-economic development of the USA in the period 1990-2019 as a reflection of the state policy, as well as to assess its compliance with the goals of ensuring the well-being of the population. The authors attempt a comprehensive analysis of socio-economic indicators that reflect the level of well-being of Americans in comparison with similar indicators of developed countries leading in terms of GDP (Japan, Germany, France, UK). The article identifies problem areas of social well-being in the USA. The calculation of the integral indicator of the well-being of the US population confirms the results of the analysis of socio-economic indicators. It shows an increased focus of socio-economic policy on the welfare of the population.
