Abstract: In the highly competitive environment organisations want to select an efficient service provider (SP) for improving their supply chains performance. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the selection criteria identified through literature review and expert opinions, specific to the oilfield services for the selection of (surface equipment's) service providers in the Indian context by employing an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach. The results of the study revealed that cost and preventive maintenance measures are the top two significant criteria, and the service provider 1 is the best amongst 15 shortlisted SPs. The developed hierarchical model is intended to guide the decision and policy makers in understanding the evaluation process, and for formulating the strategies and policies for the same.
