Abstract: Based on current energy consumption in various sectors, a Reference Energy System (RES) has been developed for the Indian energy scenario considering the efficiencies of use, conversion, transportation and distribution, etc. The data of past sectoral energy demand have been used to forecast future energy demands using appropriate regression models. These forecasts have been used as inputs for the MARKAL model along with other techno-economic parameters to find out the optimal fuel allocations up to the year 2040.
