Abstract: The milling deformation is a commonly encountered problem in the thin-walled parts machining process which affects the machining quality and the machining efficiency a lot. In this study, the influences of single-tooth milling and multi-tooth milling on the deformation of thin-walled parts flank milling are investigated and a simulation model by using ABAQUS is established. Based on which, the accurate milling deformation value and the deformation law for the thin-walled parts can be obtained under different machining parameters. The verification experiment shows that multi-tooth milling by using large radius cutting depth can achieve good machining quality for the thin-walled parts, and the simulation model can recognise the milling deformation of the thin-walled parts accurately. The achievements provide an approach to obtain the milling deformation for thin-walled parts in advance, thereby make a guidance for the milling parameter selection and improve the machining quality.
