Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the socio-economic characteristics of broadband adopters and non-adopters in the UK. This study confirms the findings obtained from a previous study that examined the sociodemographic attributes of the household consumers of broadband technologies in local vicinity, the London Borough of Hillingdon. The findings of this survey support the view that the socio-economic characteristics such as age, gender, education, income and occupation have an imperative role in explaining the adoption of broadband in the household. A brief discussion on the implications and contributions is also provided in the conclusion of the paper.
